Frequently Asked Questions

These are so cute! Did you sculpt them yourself?

I am not a sculptor! My skill set includes drawing, painting, design, and 3D printing, but not sculpting... yet.

I choose to work with creators I personally find very inspiring, so thank you very much for complimenting my good taste!

Do you sell the STL files?

I do not. You'll have to get those straight from the creators themselves!

Where do you get your models?

I pay monthly subscription fees to creators on Patreon for new downloads every month and the right to sell physical prints of their models.

If you want support the artists directly and/or purchase their models to print yourself, I highly encourage you to find them on Patreon/MyMiniFactory/Cults3D/Etsy. I include links to the creators in every print-to-order product description.

How do you build your supports?

I build my own supports for each model in Lychee Slicer.

What printer do you use?

I switch between the Elegoo Saturn 3 Ultra and the Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra, depending on which needs maintenance at the time

What resin do you use?

I use Sunlu Standard Resin for the majority of my prints.

Starting April 2025, I am experimenting with mixing in Siraya Tech Tenacious Easy Grey Resin for sturdier, more flexible prints.

What tools do you use for post-processing?

For all post-processing I first of all make sure to wear a N95 Mask. Gloves while sanding are also very helpful!

For sanding I start with 150-220 grit sand paper and finish with 400-600 grit. I don't personally find higher grit to be necessary if I plan to prime and paint a model.

If I need to fill in any pits or make minor repairs to the surface of a print, I use Tamiya Putty (Basic Type).

For priming, I use Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch 2X Ultra Cover Spray Primer in Flat Gray. I will often use multiple coats as the first coat will highlight any rough areas I want to further sand or clean up.

What paint do you recommend?

Acrylics!

Liquitex and Golden are good brands you can find at most local art supply stores. For smoother applications and finer detail work, look for "fluid body" formulas. I also like the glitter/iridescent options that Arteza provides, but I've only seen them sold online.

For more advanced recommendations, you can look into Vallejo model paints and air brushing.

What is your painting process?

I use brushes for the majority of my painting process, though I will sometimes use an airbrush to quickly lay down base coats of color or apply gradients to larger areas.

I will also sometimes use Posca acrylic markers to finish off details.
